Today’s the day! Rhiannon is running away from home, and if you’ve pre-ordered The Runaway, it will be on its way to you now.
It’s been a long journey to get to this point, and it feels unreal to say that publication day is here.
Over a decade ago, I wrote a short story in response to losing a friend. That story grew and changed over time. Its setting shifted to a remote Welsh village where the landscape echoed the narrative, its characters took on new lives, and local folklore wove its way into the bones of the book.
I wrote The Runaway because I’ve seen so many people struggle with big questions of their identity and place in the world, and there was so much I wanted to say to them. So in many ways this book is my letter to all the Rhiannons out there who desperately need to hear that they are doing OK and that the world is better than it looks right now.
My real hope for this book is that it speaks to you in some way, whether you’re feeling slightly lost, making sense of loss or finding your voice. It’s a book about the power of story-telling, forgiveness and finding hope in the ordinary, every day moments of life.
If you’re near Leeds on Saturday 4th March, do come along to the Book Launch Party at Cielo Coffee on Duncan Street at 7pm. I’ll be talking more about the book, signing copies and hosting competitions, plus you get free cake just for showing up!
That’s awesome! Your cover is beautiful and I’m really intrigued about the story! It sounds wonderful and emotional and awesome. π

Thanks so much Lana, lovely to have such words of encouragement from a fellow writer! It’s been a real labour of love and there is a lot of emotion poured into it – I hope now that it can be a story that means something to other people too π
